A positive role model can be critical to increasing a child’s self esteem and providing a positive example.
Our camps are staffed entirely by volunteers, mostly aged 16 -30 years. We train and challenge these young people to act as positive role models.
A key element of our programs is the 1:1 ratio of volunteers to kids we assist. We believe this creates the best opportunity to build strong relationships.
On camp children are able to laugh and have fun. Our volunteers are in awe of the kids’ tremendous resilience and hunger to find joy in all things.
Unique among program providers in Victoria, we offer camps for entire family groups. We believe the family unit is the cornerstone of our community.
Edmund Rice Camps is a Melbourne based charity-providing camps for children and families who are disadvantaged, supported with a 1:1 ratio by primarily young volunteers in an atmosphere of acceptance, care and fun.
