Edmund Rice Camps Victoria’s Commitment to Child Protection

Edmund Rice Camps Victoria (ERCVic)is committed to promoting and protecting at all times the best interests of children involved in its camps and other programs.

All children, regardless of their gender, race, religious beliefs, age, disability, sexual orientation, or family or social background, have equal rights to protection from abuse.

ERCVic has zero tolerance for child abuse. Everyone working at ERCVic is responsible for the care and protection of the children within our care and reporting information about suspected child abuse.

All ERCVic Board members, staff and volunteers over 18 years of age must have a current Working with Children check.

Child protection is a shared responsibility at ERCVic – that means all employees, volunteers, contractors, associates, and members of the ERCVic community.

ERCVic will consider the opinions of children and use their opinions to further review and develop our child protection policies and procedures.

ERCVic supports and respects all children, staff and volunteers. ERCVicis committed to the cultural safety of Aboriginal children, and those from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, and to providing a safe environment for children living with a disability.

ERCVic has a range of policies and procedures in place that make it very clear for all involved what is expected of them in relation to ensuring a child’s safety, reporting concerns to the relevant authorities and seeking the appropriate supports for those involved.  ERCVic also has policies and procedures to ensure privacy and confidentiality for everyone who is involved in our camps and other programs.

If any person believes a child is in immediate risk of abuse, telephone 000.
