Who can Volunteer? Volunteers are a crucial part of Edmund Rice Camps, we welcome applications from anyone interested in our work.
We actively recruit volunteers from Edmund Rice Schools, other independent and government high schools and universities. We find that are best "recruiters" are our current volunteers who encourage friends and family to become volunteers. The majority of our volunteers are between 17 and 30 years of age.
|
What Does a Volunteer Do? The single biggest volunteer role is Camp Leader. Being a leader is mostly about having fun with a camp participant, bringing energy and becoming a role model by demonstrating positive behaviour. A 1:1 ratio of volunteers to participants is provided on each camp to ensure an opportunity is created for great relationships to be built.
In addition to becoming a Camp Leader there are a number of other essential volunteer roles available; . Drive a bus for a day or two on camp. Help out in the kitchen with cooking or dish washing during camp Help out on a sub committee. Leader Formation, Marketing and Fundraising, Publicity and Publications and Equipment support. Assist in the office with some administration. Join our Board of Management.

The Social Side Hanging out with other great people is huge part of camp. In addition to the camps themselves there are regular social activities held throughout the year for volunteers to catch up such as an Open Mic night, Lawn Bowls, BBQ’s and Retreat weekends away. Volunteers are also kept connected through our quarterly newsletter called Rice Grains

Leadership Each of our camps is run entirely by volunteers. We support and challenge our experienced Camp Leaders to take on senior roles on camp. This process allows our volunteers to gain skills in leadership, planning, management, and critical thinking. We are happy to provide references for our volunteers as they enter higher education and/or the workforce.
